CRAZY SOCKS

Crazy Socks is KCCF’s signature gift bag project, inspired by founder Elana’s personal journey with cancer at the age of 7. While battling Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer, Elana was struck by how the dull hospital socks mirrored the monotony and sadness of her days. The moment she got home, she would pull them off and throw them away, hoping to leave behind the needles, pain, and fear. She was determined to change that experience for other children fighting cancer.

Founders, Elana and her sister Sabrina making gift bags, 2020

To date, more than 65,000 gift bags, containing over 200,000 items, have been delivered to hospitalized children across the United States and around the world. Over 5,000 volunteers—from Fortune 500 companies such as Meta, UBS, Goldman Sachs, Aflac, and Bank of America, as well as schools, temples, and other community groups—have joined Elana’s initiative.

Our mission is to bring hope, comfort, and joy to hospitalized children!

We bring the Crazy Socks Gift event to your location!
Our 16-year-old founder, Elana, shares her inspiring journey before the gift bag assembly begins.

Every Crazy Socks event starts with a moving presentation from Elana. She has become an expert public speaker and advocate for children battling cancer! Click here to learn more and book her for a speaking engagement.

Crazy Socks is virtual too!

Beautiful cards made by PS 183 students - there's nothing more incredible than kids supporting kids!

Because of the current health crisis, most of our Crazy Socks events over the past year have been virtual. We still have a great time making cards and assembling gift packages together! When the gift bags are done, they are mailed to KCCF for hospital delivery. The virtual format is great for connecting with volunteers from all over!
